REVELATION EVENTS | GOD'S WRATH

0. Introduction

a) Let's look at one of the events in Revelation described elsewhere in the Bible.

1. Event

a) God's inescapable wrath.

2. Revelation reference: 6:15-17

i) 15 And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains, 16 and said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! 17 For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?” (Revelation 6:15-17 NKJV)

3. Other reference: Zephaniah 1:14-18; 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3

a) 14 The great day of the Lord is near; It is near and hastens quickly. The noise of the day of the Lord is bitter; There the mighty men shall cry out. 15 That day is a day of wrath, A day of trouble and distress, A day of devastation and desolation, A day of darkness and gloominess, A day of clouds and thick darkness, 16 A day of trumpet and alarm, Against the fortified cities, And against the high towers. 17 “I will bring distress upon men, And they shall walk like blind men, Because they have sinned against the Lord; Their blood shall be poured out like dust, And their flesh like refuse.”

18 Neither their silver nor their gold, Shall be able to deliver them, In the day of the Lord’s wrath; But the whole land shall be devoured, By the fire of His jealousy, For He will make speedy riddance Of all those who dwell in the land. (Zephaniah 1:14-18 NKJV)
