3. Thoughts

a) God has only one requirement for entrance into heaven: that we be clothed in Christ.

b) Listen to how Jesus describes the inhabitants of heaven: "They will walk with me and wear white clothes, because they are worthy" (Revelation 3:4).

Revelation 3:4 New Living Translation (NLT)

“Yet there are some in the church in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes with evil. They will walk with me in white, for they are worthy.

c) Listen to the description of the elders: "Around the throne there were... twenty-four elders... They were dressed in white and had golden crowns on their heads: (Revelation 4:4)...

Revelation 4:4New  Living Translation (NLT)

Twenty-four thrones surrounded him, and twenty-four elders sat on them. They were all clothed in white and had gold crowns on their heads.

d) All are dressed in white. The saints. The elders... How would you suppose Jesus is dressed? In white?... "He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and His name is the Word of God" (Revelation 19:13).

Revelation 19:13 New Living Translation (NLT)

13 He wore a robe dipped in blood, and his title was the Word of God.

e) Why is Christ's robe not white? Why is His cloak not spotless? Why is His garment dipped in blood?... Paul says simply, "He changed places with us" (Galatians 3:13).

Galatians 3:13New Living Translation (NLT)

13 But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.”

f) He wore our coat of sin to the cross.
