2. Lamech, Son of Methuselah

a) Lamech was the son of Methuselah and the father of Noah. Noah was born when Lamech was 182. On the birth of Noah, Lamech said "Out of the very ground that the Lord has put under a curse, this one shall bring us relief from our work and the toil of our hands" (Genesis 5:29). This was a prediction of the coming flood, and the restoration of the earth by Noah. Lamech had other children and died at the age of 777.

b) The name Lamech means "strong youth."
