b) Here is a brief biography of such a person during Bible times.

2. Korah

a) A member of the Levite tribe, who along with the brothers Dathan and Abiram of the tribe of Reuben, led a revolt agaist Moses and Aaron. Korah was a cousin of Moses and Aaron. Korah was jealous of the position of Aaron as the high priest, and the Reubenites being the descendants of Jacob's oldest son, thought that they should be leading Israel, and not the Levites. The ringleaders gathered 250 people, and faced Moses and Aaron with the charge of abusing their power.

b) Moses then turned the dispute over to God, Who had Moses instruct the group to "depart from the tents of these wicked men" (Numbers 16:26). Moses was favored in the decision as "the earth opened its mouth" and swallowed all the men of Korah (Numbers 16:32). in later times, Korahites were the Temple singers. They were also "in charge of the gates of the house of the Lord" and took care of "the chambers and the treasures of the house of God" (1 Chronicles 9:23-27).
