VICTORY OVER SIN (1)
(Message by Tanny Keng)
1. Victory Over Sin
a) The Bible is clear in that it promises the faithful disciples of Christ victory over sin. In other words, it is God’s intention for His servants that they cease completely from sin! Despite the clarity of this gospel it is often misunderstood or even ignored.
b) Here are some of the clearest Bible verses that prove beyond a doubt that God’s will for us is to come to freedom from sin!
i) Matthew 5:48
“Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.”
ii) Romans 6:12-14
“Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.”
iii) Romans 8:12-13
“Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.”
