HELL (4)
1. Bible Topic
a) To learn what the Bible has to say on a variety of topics affecting our everyday lives, we may find what we are looking for here.
2. Hell
a) Jerusalem was destroyed with unquenchable fire, but it is not burning still. It’s in the Bible, Jeremiah 17:27, NIV. "But if you do not obey Me to keep the Sabbath day holy by not carrying any load as you come through the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will kindle an unquenchable fire in the gates of Jerusalem that will consume her fortresses."
b) The entire earth will be cleansed by fire. It’s in the Bible, 2 Peter 3:10, RSV. "And then the heavens will pass away with a loud noise, and the elements will be dissolved with fire, and the earth and the works that are upon it will be burned up."
c) The Bible describes God’s destruction of the wicked as being foreign and unusual of a God who is love. It’s in the Bible, Isaiah 28:21, KJV. For the LORD shall rise up as in mount Perazim, He shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that He may do his work, His strange work; and bring to pass His act, His strange act.”
d) God does not enjoy seeing anybody destroyed, and has done everything possible so that nobody would have to be. It’s in the Bible, Ezekiel 33:11,“Say to them: ‘As I live,’ says the Lord GOD, ‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?
e) God does not desire for anyone to perish and waits to give everyone time to change. It’s in the Bible, 2 Peter 3:9, “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”
f) But there is coming a time when God will rid the world of sin, of wickedness, fear, death, sorrow, and pain. It’s in the Bible, Revelation 21:4, NKJV. “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
