The harlot from Revelation indeed represents Roman Catholic church, but the beast is carrying that woman. And when you carry someone, it means they depend on you. So who is carrying the Roman Catholic church? Their king. And their king is a pope. So the beast, not only that is coming from such a system(called beast), but he is the beast himself also.
When it speaks of 8th out of them 7, chapter 17, it speaks of pope, so all 8 them are popes, not other kingdoms in the past. And these 8 popes have something is common. It says that the 8th one is of the 7, so they have something is common. And that is their name.
Obtain the list of all popes that ever existed/reigned, and you will find only one name appearing 8 times.
5 of them LIVED and REIGNED in the time of dark ages, within those 1260 years 6th one reigned after the wound was given to the beast. 7th one reigned ONLY 33 days, as bible says he will come and stay a little while. 8th one lived and reigned until 2005 when he "died", and will come out of abyss(grave) and will go to perdition. He is the son of perdition, the wicked one who shall be killed by the brightness of Lord's glory. 2 Thess. CH.2
