DOING GREATER WORKS THAN JESUS

1. Doing greater works than Jesus

John 14:12
“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father."

a) What does Jesus say about works?

i) “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10). These are works done, not in our own strength and for our own benefit, but by the grace of God and in obedience to Him – led by the Holy Spirit, to God's glory.

b) Do we have the same power as Jesus?

i) Did you know that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us? God's resurrection power is in us! That is true for everyone who receives Christ, simply by believing and walking in that power.

c) What is our authority as a believer?

i) As believers, we have authority to do the will of the Father on the earth. Jesus proved to be a great example of this. He only did what He saw the Father doing and said what He heard the Father saying. ... Our authority is limited to the call and purpose of God in our lives.

d) Why the name of Jesus is so powerful?

i) When we talk about praying in the Name of Jesus, and using that Name as an instrument, many really don't understand it! ... Rather, the reason the name is powerful is the one who answers it. The one whom the Name represents was given all authority in heaven and in earth (Matthew 28:18 ).

e) What authority has Jesus given us?

i) In Luke 10:19, Jesus gives us the assurance that He has given us the power to overcome all the power of the enemy and nothing shall harm us. In Matthew 18, Jesus says, “Whatever we bind on earth, will be bound in heaven and whatever we lose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

f) How can we get the power of God?

Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

1 Corinthians 1:18
For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

g) What must we do?

i) Make ourselves readily available at all time and lean upon the Holy Spirit to work through us.
