WHY IS A POINT OF CONTACT SO NECESSARY?

1. Why is a point of contact so necessary?

a) What is a point of contact?

i) A point of contact is something you do. It’s an action you take, in faith, as a deliberate, tangible moment when you can say you released your faith to God for what you need. It’s like turning the key to start your car. When you do it, you expect something to happen. It helps you focus your faith on God and let go of any doubt.

ii) A point of contact could be the prayer of faith; the laying on of hands; an act of faith that causes you to move outside your comfort zone; a prayer cloth or anything that requires a step of faith toward the previously unknown.

iii) A point of contact is a means you may use to reach God and obey His divine instructions. It is also used in transferring the anointing and healing.

b) Faith mattters

i) One of the most powerful ways to help you get your faith connected with the Lord is through a point of contact.

ii) Everybody has faith. The Bible says in Romans 12:3, God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. We each have the means of faith God has given us. It doesn’t have to be great or big or powerful. You have all the faith you’re ever going to need. It’s not how much faith you have, it’s what you do with your faith that can make the difference.

iii) You see, your faith has to be released before it can produce any results; it has to come out of you and go up to God as an act of your believing.

c) Biblical examples

i) Peter's shadow

Acts 5:15-16 TLB
[15] Sick people were brought out into the streets on beds and mats so that at least Peter's shadow would fall across some of them as he went by! [16] And crowds came in from the Jerusalem suburbs, bringing their sick folk and those possessed by demons; and every one of them was healed.

ii) Paul's handkerchiefs or parts of his clothing

Acts 19:11-12 TLB
[11] And God gave Paul the power to do unusual miracles, [12] so that even when his handkerchiefs or parts of his clothing were placed upon sick people, they were healed, and any demons within them came out.

iii) The tassel of Jesus' robe

Matthew 14:35-36 TLB
[35] The news of their arrival spread quickly throughout the city, and soon people were rushing around, telling everyone to bring in their sick to be healed. [36] The sick begged him to let them touch even the tassel of his robe, and all who did were healed.

d) A simple truth

i) The point of contact is such a simple truth that it’s not in the point of contact. It is Jesus who is the Healer.

ii) So, why is a point of contact so necessary? Because it can help release your faith.
