Dennis Mukwege is a renowned Congolese Christian gynecologist and human rights activist. He has been a tireless advocate for ending sexual violence as a weapon of war. He has globally raised awareness about the atrocities committed against women in the DRC and has called for justice and accountability for the perpetrators. Despite experiencing troubles and hardships, he holds on to his faith and continued to fight against gender-based violence and strive for a world free of such atrocities. In recognition of his exceptional efforts, Dr. Mukwege was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2018.
