The Purpose Behind the Title

The Purpose Behind the Title

By Rev. Tanny

When God orchestrates a situation in your favor, it is never accidental. It is deliberate, purposeful, and often far ahead of your current level of understanding. I’ve come to recognize this not just as a principle, but as my own lived experience.

There was a season when I was accorded ordination. At that point, I understood the weight of it—I knew it wasn’t something casual—but I couldn’t fully explain why me, why now, and for what specific purpose. There was a quiet knowing within me that God was doing something intentional, something strategic. It felt like He was setting pieces in place before revealing the full design.

I carried the title, but I also carried the question.

And that’s where many people find themselves—holding something significant from God, yet not having complete clarity about its function. But what I’ve learned is this: God often establishes position before purpose becomes visible. He gives you what you need ahead of when you think you’ll need it.

Now, as time has unfolded, the picture has become clear.

The title “Reverend” was never about recognition. It was about authorization. It was God’s way of placing a mantle of legitimacy over my life for specific assignments. There are environments where spiritual calling alone is not enough—there must also be acknowledged authority. There are conversations, responsibilities, and even spiritual transactions that require you to stand in an officially recognized capacity.

Without that ordination, some doors would remain closed—not because I lacked calling, but because the assignment itself required a certain positioning.

So what once felt like a mystery now reveals itself as divine strategy.

God was not reacting—He was preparing. He saw the assignments ahead and ensured that I would not arrive under-equipped or unrecognized. He aligned the title with the tasks, the authority with the responsibility, and the timing with His greater plan.

In hindsight, I can see that the ordination was a form of divine infrastructure. It wasn’t just about who I am—it was about what I would be required to carry, execute, and represent.

And this has reshaped how I view every form of elevation or positioning in my life.

I no longer ask, “Why was this given?”

I now ask, “What assignment is this preparing me for?”

Because when God places something in your life—whether it’s a title, a platform, a connection, or an opportunity—it is always tied to purpose. Even if that purpose is not immediately visible, it is already in motion.

So today, I stand with clarity:

The ordination was given so I could fulfill the assignments that demand it.

It was not premature—it was precise.

Not symbolic—it was functional.

And if there’s one thing I’ve come to trust, it is this:

When God positions you ahead of your understanding, it’s because your assignment is already ahead of your current visibility.

In time, the reason always catches up with the calling.
