1. The Flow of Bible History from Creation to the Apostle Paul
a) Legend for Bible History Map
i) Based on Archbishop Usher's chronology Adam was created in 4004 B.C. Recent research, however, suggests that the creation of man could have occurred as late as 4025 B.C. or as early as 3984 B.C. The Hebrew Calendar begins its count of years with what is believed to be the first year of creation. Year 1 on the Hebrew calendar is 3761 B.C.
ii) Location of where Noah's Ark landed in 2328 B.C.
iii) Tower of Babel (Babylon)
iv) Call of Abram (Abraham). He is born in 1975 B.C.
v) God's Covenant with Abram (Abraham).
vi) Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (Israel) live in land of promise. Abraham lives a total of 175 years. Isaac lives to the age of 180 and Israel lives 147 years.
vii) Joseph is sold into Egyptian slavery by his brothers. This event eventually leads to Jacob and his family migrating to Egypt.
viii) Slavery of the children of Israel in Egypt.
ix) God through Moses (born in 1525 B.C.) leads the children of Israel out of Egypt bondage to Mount Sinai, where Moses receives the Ten Commandments and other laws from God. (1445 B.C.)
x) The Israelites wander the desert for forty years as punishment for disobeying God. (1445 to 1405 B.C.). It is during his time in the Wilderness that Moses writes the first five books of the Bible (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Number, Deuteronomy).
xi) The Israelites enter the Holy Land. It is divided up as an inheritance, by lot, to each of the twelve tribes. The tribes are ruled by a series of Judges, starting with Joshua, from 1398 to 1050 B.C. Notable Judges include Gideon, Samson and Samuel.
@1. Saul is anointed the first human king over a united Israel in 1050 B.C. He reigns for forty years and is followed by King David and his son Solomon, who each rule for forty years.
@2. Israel splits into two pieces in 930 B.C. after the death of Solomon: The Kingdom of Israel (the Northern Kingdom) which is composed of ten tribes, and the Kingdom of Judah, which is composed of two tribes plus the priestly tribe of Levi.
xii) Samaria, the capital of the Northern Kingdom, is conquered by the Assyrian King Shalmaneser V in 723 B.C. The Israelites are taken captive to Assyria.
