HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD

1. Why Pray for GCC Bentong?

a) On 19/11/2015 (Thursday), one of the sisters in our Friday Prayer Group called me to share the incident she faced after she had assisted another sister in getting her car repaired. She couldn't understand why there was a sudden strain of relationship with the sister she had helped her all the way. The advice I gave her was to continue praying for the GCC Bentong.

b) From her incident and a few incidents earlier, I am now even more convinced than ever before that the devil (the adversary) is all out to attack relationship within / in our group going for GCC Bentong on 19-20 December 2015 as this has not only happened to her but also happened earlier to me, my wife, and a few of our group members. All because we have an assignment in GCC Prayer Mountain.

2. Jesus Prays for Simon Peter

a) In Luke 22:31-33, Jesus says to Peter,

i) Luke 22:31-33 New King James Version (NKJV)

31 And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.” 33 But he said to Him, “Lord, I am ready to go with You, both to prison and to death.”

b) No matter how bad you may have messed up or how obvious you may have been in the ways of the Lord, Jesus always wants you.

3. Consider "How Great is Our God"

a) No rain on the land for three years and six months

i) James 5:16-18 New King James Version (NKJV)

16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. 17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. 18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.

b) The sun stands still

i) Joshua 10:12-14 New King James Version (NKJV)

12 Then Joshua spoke to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel:

“Sun, stand still over Gibeon;
And Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.”
13 So the sun stood still,
And the moon stopped,
Till the people had revenge
Upon their enemies.

Is this not written in the Book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day. 14 And there has been no day like that, before it or after it, that the Lord heeded the voice of a man; for the Lord fought for Israel.

c) The sun's shadow to move backward ten degrees

i) Isaiah 38:1-8 New King James Version (NKJV)

1 In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him and said to him, “Thus says the Lord: ‘Set your house in order, for you shall die and not live.’”

2 Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the Lord, 3 and said, “Remember now, O Lord, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what is good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

4 And the word of the Lord came to Isaiah, saying, 5 “Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will add to your days fifteen years. 6 I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria, and I will defend this city.”’ 7 And this is the sign to you from the Lord, that the Lord will do this thing which He has spoken: 8 “Behold, I will bring the shadow on the sundial, which has gone down with the sun on the sundial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward.” So the sun returned ten degrees on the dial by which it had gone down.

4. Conclusion

a) The God we serve is far more superior than the devil. The devil knows he has but a short time. Therefore he will go all out to cause havoc in whatever God assigns us to do.

b) As God assigns us with his divine work, let's us not waver but do with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our strength, with all our mind, to accomplish His plan and purpose in our lives.
