GOD CAN MAKE YOU FAMOUS
(Message by Tanny Keng)
a) The idea is about making our events and lives centering around a group of God's people, rather than just one person or one ministry. Then, God can receive the credit for what's being accomplished in His Name and bless our efforts. It is not about our names, but about His Name!
Isaiah 26:8
8 Yes, in the way of Your judgments,
O Lord, we have waited for You;
The desire of our soul is for Your name
And for the remembrance of You.
b) But it's so easy to long for the credit ourselves. There is a passage in Luke 10:17-20, where Jesus has just sent out his disciples for ministry. They return overjoyed at how God had used them:
Luke 10:17-20
17 Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” 18 And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. 20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”
c) If we really want to be like Jesus, we would stop setting up little ministry kingdom's for ourselves, and start serving others around us in the far eclipsing Kingdom of God! May God raise up a generation of "Nameless, Faceless" to usher in the return of Christ!
2. A Generation Of "Nameless, Faceless"
a) God wants to anoint a new generation of "Nameless, Faceless" do great exploits. The army that God is raising to use are unknown soldiers. These unknown soldiers are to do remarkable deeds.
Daniel 11:32
32 Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.
John 14:12
12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.
Mark 16:17-18
17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
b) Great exploits are not promised to apostles and prophets but rather to those who know God, people who have faith in Jesus, and those who believe. These are phenomenal promises and we need to equip and release the army of God so that every soldier can do this.
c) And it’s important that these great exploits can be done in secret without having to be trumpeted to the whole world.
3. God Can Make You Famous
a) God is so secure as a leader that He has no problem allowing others to be famous. In fact He deliberately makes them famous!
i) Joshua
Joshua 4:14
14 On that day the Lord exalted Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as they had feared Moses, all the days of his life.
ii) David
1 Chronicles 14:17
17 Then the fame of David went out into all lands, and the Lord brought the fear of him upon all nations.
1 Chronicles 17:8
8 And I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have cut off all your enemies from before you, and have made you a name like the name of the great men who are on the earth.
4. For The Sake Of His people
a) We see too many “man of God syndrome” whose ministry is built around one person. Soon, entitlement, accruing privileges and power, and arrogance and ostentation follow.
b) But at the same time there may be some leaders who get a name and a face – it could be that God is promoting them because He wants to help His people:
1 Chronicles 14:2
2 So David knew that the Lord had established him as king over Israel, for his kingdom was highly exalted for the sake of His people Israel.
c) When God gives His favour to a leader it is because He is releasing favour to His people.
The End ...
