The manner in which you welcome or receive a person determines the reward you will receive. This is not about showing favoritism; it is about recognizing the gift and the calling of the one who comes in God's name. When you receive a prophet as a prophet, you are aligning yourself with the prophetic ministry and opening yourself to receive the blessing that accompanies it. When you receive a righteous person as righteous, you are honoring the work of God in their life and positioning yourself to receive the reward of the righteous.

The Difference Between Rewards

The primary difference between the righteous man's reward and the prophet's reward is that the righteous man receives a reward according to the established word of God, while the prophet receives a reward according to the present word of God. The prophet's reward is the fulfillment of the prophesied word. The righteous man walks in the consistent, established truth of God's Word. The prophet speaks a timely, specific, and often directional word for the present moment. Both are valuable. Both are necessary. Both carry rewards for those who receive them. Why It Is Important to Welcome God's Servants

Why is it so important to welcome His servant, the man of God? God has given gifts to the church. Whatever gifts or ministry His servant has, that he will impart. When you receive a prophet, you open yourself to the prophetic gift. When you receive a teacher, you open yourself to the teaching gift. When you receive a pastor, you open yourself to the pastoral gift. The servant of God brings not only their words but also the anointing and the grace that accompanies their calling. If you do not receive him, you may lose the benefits of the prophet or the righteous person brings. You may miss the word, the direction, the encouragement, or the correction that God intended for you. You may close the door to a blessing that was meant to be yours.

The Need for Discernment

Having said that, you need to make sure that the person you are welcoming is not a fake or teaches heresy. Not everyone who claims to be a prophet is a prophet. Not everyone who claims to be righteous is righteous. We are called to test the spirits, to examine the fruit, and to weigh the words. The Bereans were commended for testing Paul's teaching against the Scriptures. We must do the same. Welcome those who are genuine, but be cautious of those who are false. A false prophet brings not a blessing but a curse. A false teacher leads not to life but to destruction. So welcome with joy, but welcome with discernment.

Welcoming Christ and the Father

When you welcome a genuine servant of God, you welcome Christ. And when you welcome Christ, you welcome the One who sent Him. This is the profound reality of receiving God's servants. They are not just representing God; they are carrying the presence of God. When you receive them, you are receiving the One who sent them.
