I, EVEN I ONLY, AM LEFT

1. I, Even I Only, Am Left

a) 1 Kings 19:1-18.

i)  After a great victory of slaughtering the prophets of Baal (450 of them), Elijah fled for his life (v.3).

@1. Doesn't this sound like us sometimes! With the mighty acts of God being displayed, we even lose faith in him when the unexpected comes.

ii)  The angel of the Lord baked some bread on stones, and brought a jar of water for Elijah! (v. 6).

@1. Just imagine when you are down flat, discouraged, and fed up with everything around you, God still cares for your immediate needs.

iii) "What are you doing here, Elijah?"

@1. In such a desperate time, you may not be in the right place at the right time. The decisions you made are usually clouded by your fears of things that may not even happen at all!

iv) Then the LORD told him, "[15] Go back the same way you came, and travel to the wilderness of Damascus. When you arrive there, anoint Hazael to be king of Aram. [16] Then anoint Jehu grandson of Nimshi to be king of Israel, and anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from the town of Abel-meholah to replace you as my prophet. [17] Anyone who escapes from Hazael will be killed by Jehu, and those who escape Jehu will be killed by Elisha! (1 Kings 19:15-17).

@1. It is not a coincidence at such a time like this that you would receive your restoration, your revival, and your renewal of the purpose God has called you for.

v) 1 Kings 19:18 NLT
"[18] Yet I will preserve 7,000 others in Israel who have never bowed down to Baal or kissed him!"

@1. Sometimes, we think we are the only ones left to do the job! We pride ourselves as the indispensables! We think others are not doing it! Wrong! Wrong! Wrong!

b) We must be careful not to have a narrow mindset especially in the Kingdom of God. God has many people doing his will. He has assigned them to places where he want them to be, and to do what he wants.

c) We can't see and know everything. One thing for sure is that he will always watch over his people in respect of his perfect will!
