SO, IS IT ALRIGHT TO SEE A PROPHET NOWADAYS?

1. So, Is It Alright To see A prophet Nowadays?

a) Kish sent this son Saul and a servant on an assignment to look for his strayed donkeys.

b) They went around to search but couldn't find the donkeys. Finally, Saul said to the servant, "Let's go home; by now my father will be more worried about us than about the donkeys!"

c) But the servant said, "I've just thought of something! There is a prophet who lives here in this city; he is held in high honor by all the people because everything he says comes true; let's go and find him, and perhaps he can tell us where the donkeys are."

d) In those days prophets were called seers. "Let's go and ask the seer," people would say, rather than, "Let's go and ask the prophet," as we would say now.

e) The Lord had told Samuel the previous day, "About this time tomorrow I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin. You are to anoint him as the leader of my people. He will save them from the Philistines, for I have looked down on them in mercy and have heard their cry."

f) When Samuel saw Saul, the Lord said, "That's the man I told you about! He will rule my people."

g) Just then Saul approached Samuel and asked, "Can you please tell me where the seer's house is?"

h) "I am the seer!" Samuel replied. "Go on up the hill ahead of me and we'll eat together; in the morning I will tell you what you want to know and send you on your way.

i) And don't worry about those donkeys that were lost three days ago, for they have been found. And anyway, you own all the wealth of Israel now!"

j) Then Samuel took Saul and his servant into the great hall and placed them at the head of the table, honoring them above the thirty special guests.

k) After the feast, when they had returned to the city, Samuel took Saul up to the porch on the roof and talked with him there.

l) At daybreak the next morning, Samuel called up to him, "Get up; it's time you were on your way!"

m) So Saul got up, and Samuel accompanied him to the edge of the city. When they reached the city walls, Samuel told Saul to send the servant on ahead. Then he told him, "I have received a special message for you from the Lord."

n) Then Samuel took a flask of olive oil and poured it over Saul's head, and kissed him on the cheek and said, "I am doing this because the Lord has appointed you to be the king of his people, Israel! (1 Samuel 9; 10:1)

o) What are the lessons to be learned?

@1. Saul and a servant were looking for a prophet to tell them the whereabout of the strayed donkeys.

@2. God arranged this divine appointment for prophet Samuel to deliver a message for Saul. Saul had been appointed by the Lord to be the king of his people, Israel. Why? Because the people of Israel wanted a king just like the other nations.

p) Did Saul get what he wanted in the first place about the strayed donkeys?

@1. Yes. He did! Samuel told him that the donkeys had been found.

@2. On top of this Saul got something new that he never expected. In fact, he never expected anything else in the first place!

Amos 3:7
"For the Lord GOD does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets.

2 Peter 1:21
For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

q) So, it is alright to see a prophet nowadays?
