PROPHECY | A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE

1. Prophecy | A Different Perspective

a) When the Lord inspires someone to speak or deliver a word of prophecy, that prophetic word shall come to pass (in his own timing!). It may materialize immediately within a split second or it may take some time for it to fruition.

b) What we see now is that the people of God who were given a word of prophecy, were disappointed and discouraged simply because the prophetic word given was in no way coming to pass. A simple answer for this deduction is that it takes time (it's true). But for how long! Some may not even experience it at all!

c) We need to understand why God speaks and for what purpose! Many are thrilled and excited over a given prophetic word. But they don't have the slightest clue as to why it was specifically given.

d) Let's be clear about what the Bible says:

@1. Surely the Lord GOD does nothing unless He reveals His secret counsel to His servants, the prophets. (Amos 3:7)

@2. You may say in your heart, 'How will we know the word which the LORD has not spoken?' When a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not come about or come true, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him. (Deuteronomy 18:21-22)

e) God speaks to his servants, the prophets. Even in this, the man of God may be over-zealous. He may speak the word beyond what God has intended. There is always a temptation to over do it as if God approves such an act for people to see. In reality, it is the human spirit that is being influenced by the soul because the soulish part of a man wants attention! Thus, the spoken word naturally does not come to pass at all. (Deuteronomy 18:21-22)

f) We can learn something from Balaam i.e. he will only speak the word that God puts in his mouth.

Numbers 22:38
So Balaam said to Balak, "Behold, I have come now to you! Am I able to speak anything at all? The word that God puts in my mouth, that I shall speak."

g) When a prophetic word is given according to what God instructed, you can be rest assured that it shall come to pass. Most of the time, it is not immediate but at all time it takes its own time to materialize. So be patient! Like a farmer who knows just what to do, for God has given him understanding. The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is a wonderful teacher and he gives the farmer great wisdom (Isaiah 28, 29).

Isaiah 30:23
He will also send you rain for the seed you sow in the ground, and the food that comes from the land will be rich and plentiful. In that day your cattle will graze in broad meadows.

h) So, the prophetic word is powerful! Once it is sowed, it takes time for it to work until it can bear fruits. That's when you can see with your own physical eyes that the prophecy is true and you will acknowledge the gifting bestowed upon the servants of God, his prophets. After all, it is God who wills it, isn't it?
