THIRTY (30) IN THE BIBLE

(Message by Tanny Keng)

1. Number THIRTY in the Bible

a) Jesus was about thirty years old when he began his work. (Luke 3:23)

b) Thirty is 3 x 10, a combination of two good numbers.

c) Thirty denotes a higher degree of the perfection of divine order, such as marking the right moment. For example, Jesus began His ministry when He was thirty. Joseph, who is a type of Christ began His ministry at thirty. (Genesis 41:46) David, another type of Christ, began to reign at age thirty. (2 Samuel 5:4)

d) Notice that all three of these men were betrayed either before or after they started their ministries. As you know, Judas betrayed our Savior for thirty pieces of silver because that was the going rate for a slave at that time.

e) Joseph was sold for twenty pieces of silver, the going rate for a slave during his day. David wasn't sold into slavery, but he was continually chased by Saul who tried to kill him on several occasions.

f) Thirty denotes what is perceived as of little value.

g) However, the true value surpasses that perception as in the case of Jesus, Joseph and David.
