JESUS RAISES LAZARUS FROM THE DEAD

0. Introduction

a) Who is Jesus? Who is this man who stands at the apex of human history? According to many, Jesus was a great man, a distinguished moral teacher, a wise human philosopher, and even a prophet. 

b) Do you know Him? 

c) Here is an account of His-story of Jesus whom we are talking about. 

1. Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead (see John 11:1-44)

a) In John 11:1-44, the Bible gives another account of Jesus raising someone from the dead. In this case, it is a man named Lazarus. When Jesus was told that Lazarus was seriously ill, he said:

i) "This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God's glory so that God's Son may be glorified through it." (John 11:4 NIV).

b) A few days later, Jesus traveled to the tomb of Lazarus, where Lazarus had been for four days. Jesus went to Martha, Lazarus' sister, and:

i) Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" (John 11:25-26 NIV).

c) Then, Martha answered Jesus:

i) "Yes, Lord," she told him, "I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world." (John 11:27 NIV).

d) Jesus went to the tomb and called out for Lazarus, who then rose from death to life and walked out of the tomb.
