2. Michal
a) Michal was a wife of King David, and the younger daughter of King Saul. After David killed Goliath and became a hero in Israel, Saul offered his daughter Michal to David as his wife for "One hundred foreskins of the Philistines" (1 Samuel 18:25). David took up the challenge, and he and his men killed two hundred Philistines, and brought their foreskins to Saul.
b) Saul then gave Michal to David to become his wife. Saul later annulled the marriage and gave Michal to a man named Palti, as his wife. Years later when David was king, he demanded to have Michal back. Michal was taken from her husband Palti, who was "weeping after her all the way" (2 Samuel 3:16). Michal's love for David turned to contempt, and as "David danced before the Lord with all his might," wearing only a linen ephod (2 Samuel 6:14) as the Ark of the Covenant was brought from the house of Obed-Edom to the City of David (Jerusalem), Michal scorned him.
c) She accused him of base behavior, by "uncovering himself in the eyes of the maids" (2 Samuel 6:20). David's response was "I was dancing before the Lord... not only will I make merry before the Lord, but I will demean myself even more..." (2 Samuel 20-23). Michal died barren. Michal means "who is like God?"
