FAITH (1)

1. Bible Study

a) The Bible tells the story of how God — Father, Son and Holy Spirit — loves us and wants us to love Him, despite our brokenness and tendency to go our own way (Isaiah 53:6). This relationship is the “main thing” about the Bible and it’s the “main thing” to keep focused on.

b) God's Word is fully sufficient to prepare us for everything the Bible commands us to do. The Holy Spirit uses the Word of God to transform us into Christ-likeness.

c) We study to understand God's character and attributes. Study the Bible anytime, anywhere. Each topic is ideal for personal learning but may also be adapted for a group as well.

2. Faith

a) We must become obedient to the faith to be saved.

i) Acts 6:7

7 The word of God kept on spreading; and the number of the disciples continued to increase greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were becoming obedient to the faith.

b) The faith (i.e., the gospel) was delivered once for all to the saints.

i) Jude 3

3 Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints.

c) Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

i) Hebrews 11:1

1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

d) By faith we understand that God framed the worlds by His word. The things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

i) Hebrews 11:3

3 By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible.

e) Faith is a work. Without faith we cannot work the works of God.

i) Galatians 5:6

6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but faith working through love.
