DREAM: MAJESTIC IMAGERY

This morning on Saturday, July 1, 2023 I had a dream. 

“In my dream I saw an open heaven showing an imagery of three beautiful and majestic mountains. This imagery was glittering and it was looking very real! The sight was somehow not of this world! 

Then I ran to call my sister to come and see and at the same time I search for my phone to take a picture of it. I came back to where the imagery was, and before I could snap a shot, it disappeared as if heaven was closed and I could see the same old world.”

Then, I woke up and I looked at the time. It was 3:02 in the morning.

I wonder if there was any significance or message in my dream. Then I began to search for answers:

Mountains carry several symbolic and spiritual messages in the Bible. Here are some key biblical messages associated with mountains:

1. Divine Presence and Revelation: 

Mountains often serve as places where God reveals Himself and communicates with His people.

Examples include Moses receiving the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai and Jesus' transfiguration on a high mountain (Matthew 17:1-8). Mountains remind us that God desires to make Himself known and engage with humanity.

2. Holiness and Sanctification: 

Mountains are frequently associated with the concept of holiness and sanctification. 

When God establishes His presence on a mountain, it becomes a sacred space. Mount Sinai is a prime example of a holy mountain where people were instructed to consecrate themselves before approaching God. Mountains teach us about the need for purity and reverence in our relationship with God.

3. Strength and Stability: 

Mountains are often used metaphorically to depict God's strength and stability. 

In Psalm 125:2, it says, "As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people both now and forevermore." 

Mountains symbolize the unchanging nature of God, His steadfastness, and His ability to provide security and refuge for His people.

4. Spiritual Ascent and Encounter: 

Climbing mountains in the Bible can represent spiritual journeys, seeking God's presence, and encountering Him in a deeper way. 

Psalm 24:3-4 speaks of those who ascend the hill of the Lord, emphasizing the importance of a pure heart and seeking God's face. 

Mountains remind us of the pursuit of a closer relationship with God and the transformative experiences that can be found through seeking Him.

These messages convey the significance of mountains as spiritual symbols in the Bible, representing divine presence, holiness, strength, and the pursuit of a deeper connection with God.

Why three mountains?

The number three holds symbolic significance in the Bible and carries various meanings. Here are a few key aspects of the number three in biblical context:

1. Divine Completeness and Perfection: 

The number three is often associated with completeness and perfection, reflecting the nature of God. 

2. Resurrection and Restoration: 

Jesus Christ was resurrected on the third day after His crucifixion, emphasizing the concept of triumph over death and the restoration of life. The number three can be linked to themes of resurrection, new beginnings, and restoration throughout the Bible.

3. Time and Cycles: 

The number three is connected to time and cycles. Jesus spent three days and nights in the tomb, paralleling the story of Jonah in the belly of the fish for three days (Matthew 12:40). The repetition of events or patterns occurring three times signifies completeness within a specific timeframe or cycle.

4. Confirmation and Testimony: 

In Jewish legal customs, the testimony of two or three witnesses was considered valid and confirmed a matter. The number three, in this context, represents the strength of testimony and serves as a confirming factor.

5. Spiritual Intensity: 

The number three can indicate spiritual intensity or significance. For example, when Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, He asked His disciples to stay awake with Him three times (Matthew 26:36-46), signifying the weight and intensity of the spiritual battle He was about to face.

These are some of the symbolic meanings associated with the number three in the Bible. The significance of the number three underscores themes of completeness, perfection, restoration, testimony, and spiritual intensity throughout biblical narratives.
