TWENTY-ONE (21) IN THE BIBLE

(Message by Tanny Keng)

1. Number TWENTY-ONE in the Bible

a) But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia. (Daniel 10:13)

b) Do you know why the Daniel Fast lasts twenty-one days?

c) God responded to Daniel's prayer the first day he prayed by sending a messenger to Daniel. A powerful spiritual being of darkness detained the messenger for twenty-one days. Daniel faithfully continued praying and fasting, and God's messenger eventually arrived, assisted by Michael, the archangel.

d) Answers to our prayers may be hindered by unseen obstacles. Our prayers may be challenged by evil forces. We must pray and fast until there is a breakthrough. For Daniel, it took twenty-one days. That's why some people go on a twenty-one day fast "to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke" (Isaiah 58:5).

e) The number twenty-one represents a holy state because it is the product of seven and three multiplied by each other, and seven signifies what is holy, and so also does three.
