DISCOVER BIBLE | 2 SAMUEL 8-12 (1 CHRONICLES 18-20)

1. Introduction

a) The Bible is full of wonderful stories and special truth. What we want to do is to discover the Bible.  

b) Psalm 119:11 says, "Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You." 

c) Nurture and grow your understanding of the Bible as you read and discover the Bible.

@2. As you study in this way, you will begin to see how the different emphases of the writers directed their choice of materials. 

a) 2 Samuel 8-12:

i) David extends his kingdom - 2 Samuel 8:1-13.

ii) David's officers - 2 Samuel 8:14-18.

iii) David's kindness to Mephibosheth - 2 Samuel 9:1-13.

iv) Defeat of Ammonites and Syrians - 2 Samuel 10:1-19.

v) David and Bathsheba - 2 Samuel 11:1-27.

vi) Nathan rebukes David - 2 Samuel 12:1-12.

vii) David's repentance and sorrow - 2 Samuel 12:13-25.

viii) David captures Rabbah - 2 Samuel 12:26-31.

b) 1 Chronicles 18-20:

i) David extends his kingdom - 1 Chronicles 18:1-17.

ii) David's messengers humiliated - 1 Chronicles 19:1-5.

iii) David defeats Ammon - 1 Chronicles 19:6-15.

iv) David defeats the Syrians - 1 Chronicles 19:16-19.

v) Joab and David capture Rabbah - 1 Chronicles 20:1-8.
