BIBLE PROPHECIES | THE NATIONHOOD OF ISRAEL (1)

1. The nationhood of Israel

a) Jewish history is unique in the extent to which its people have been exiled from their land and yet able to later return and re-establish their country. During ancient times, the Jews were forced to essentially relocate their center of life from Jerusalem to Babylon. But they had the ability to later restore Jerusalem as their center of life, as well as the land of Israel as their home.

b) Bible prophecies are listed below.

2. Bible Prophecies

a) The people of Israel would return to "their own land."

Ezekiel 34:13 New International Version (NIV)

13 I will bring them out from the nations and gather them from the countries, and I will bring them into their own land. I will pasture them on the mountains of Israel, in the ravines and in all the settlements in the land.

3. Written: Between 593-571 BC

a) Like Jeremiah, the prophet Ezekiel also lived during the time that the Babylonians ruled over the people of Judah, and he too was one of the Jews who were taken to Babylon as captives. In Ezekiel 34:13, he prophesied that God would gather the exiles from the various nations to which they had been scattered and that he would restore them to "their own land."
