a) The Bible is an historic record of real people and places. 

b) Here is a brief biography of such a person during Bible times.

2. Jethro

a) Jethro, also known Reuel, was the father-in-law to Moses; father of Zipporah, the wife of Moses; and grandfather to Gershom and Eliezer.

b) Jethro was a priest in the land of Midian, an ancient name for a territory that was east of the Jordan River, near the land of Israel.

c) After Moses had left Egypt, but before he returned to emancipate the Hebrew slaves, he lived in Midian where he met Jethro and married his daughter.

d) The word Jethro can be translated as meaning "His excellence," which is a title given to leaders, which is what Reuel was in hte land of Midian.

e) Jethro is mentioned by title (Jethro) in Exodus 3:1, Exodus 4:18, and throughout Exodus 18. He is mentioned by name (Reuel) in Exodus 2:18 and Numbers 10:29.
