ARE YOU MISSING THE MARK?

(Message by Tanny Keng)

1. Are You Missing The Mark?

a) In our society, and especially in Christian circles, there is probably not one word more emotionally charged with negativity than the word sin. But what does sin really mean? What is the biblical definition of sin? It literally means missing the mark. It is a term in the Greek that comes from an archery term meaning to miss the bullseye.

b) When we understand that sin is missing the mark, then we all understand and can accept that none of us are perfect. When you understand that you have truly fallen short, that your arrow was no where close, then you no longer can fool yourself into thinking that close is good enough.

c) Here are a few scriptures for you to think about...

i) Teaching To Observe All Things

Matthew 28:16-20
16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. 17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted.

18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

ii) Laborers Are Few

Matthew 9:35-38
35 Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. 36 But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were eary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. 37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

iii) Many Called, Few Are Chosen

Matthew 22:14
14 “For many are called, but few are chosen.”

iv) Are All ....?

1 Corinthians 12:29-30
29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?
