THE HOLY SPIRIT LIVING IN US

A Response to "The Holy Spirit Living In Us"
The Primary Necessity
It is a primary necessity to have the Holy Spirit living in us. This is not an optional extra for the spiritually elite; it is the very heartbeat of the Christian life. Without the Holy Spirit, we are left to our own strength, our own wisdom, and our own resources—all of which are insufficient for the journey we are called to walk. The Holy Spirit is not a distant force or an abstract power; He is a Person, the third Person of the Trinity, who indwells every believer. He is the One who makes our dying bodies live again after we die. Romans 8:11 declares that the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in us, and He will give life to our mortal bodies through His Spirit who lives in us. This is not a metaphor; it is a promise. The same power that conquered the grave resides in every believer. And that power will be fully displayed when the bride, the body of Christ, meets the Lord in the clouds.
The Importance of the Holy Spirit
Do you see the importance of having the Holy Spirit? Without Him, there is no other power in heaven that will resurrect us from the dead or transform our living bodies into heavenly bodies when the trumpet is blown from heaven. Angels cannot do it. Human effort cannot accomplish it. Religious rituals cannot produce it. Only the Holy Spirit has the power to raise the dead and to change the living in the twinkling of an eye. This is the work of the Holy Spirit for that great hour. Jesus is waiting for us in the clouds—that is for sure. But who will resurrect us? Who will transform us? It is by the power of the Holy Spirit living in us. The Holy Spirit is the guarantee of our resurrection, the seal of our redemption, the down payment of our inheritance. His presence in us is the assurance that we will one day be raised to glory.
All Creation Waits
All creation is waiting patiently and hopefully for that future day when God will resurrect His children. Why? Because on that day, thorns and thistles, sin, death, and decay will all disappear. Romans 8:20-21 tells us that creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the One who subjected it, in hope that creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. The whole created order groans, waiting for the revealing of the sons of God. The animals, the trees, the mountains, the oceans—all of creation longs for the day when the curse is lifted, when death is defeated, and when the children of God are fully revealed. And the Holy Spirit is the One who will bring that day to pass. He is the power behind the resurrection, the force that will set creation free.
Live and Walk in the Holy Spirit
We have been urged to live in the Holy Spirit and to walk in the Holy Spirit in our practical daily living. Galatians 5:25 exhorts us: "If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit." This is not a one-time decision; it is a daily orientation. Our Christian life is a journey, and we are to walk it step by step, moment by moment, in the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit gives us life in the new birth—John 3:6 declares that that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. And we must continue to live, day by day, in the Holy Spirit. This means depending on Him for guidance, drawing on His strength for obedience, and yielding to His leading in every area of our lives. It means not quenching the Spirit, not grieving the Spirit, but walking in step with Him.
Rest Assured
Thus, we can be rest assured that the Holy Spirit is living in us. This is not a hope; it is a certainty. If you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit dwells within you. You are not alone. You are not powerless. You are not left to your own devices. The same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you. He is your Comforter, your Guide, your Teacher, and your Guarantee. He is the One who will raise you up on the last day. So do not live in fear. Do not live in doubt. Do not live in your own strength. Live in the Holy Spirit. Walk in the Holy Spirit. And rest in the assurance that the One who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Final Reflection
The Holy Spirit is not an abstract concept to be studied; He is a Person to be known and a Power to be experienced. He is the life of the Christian life. Without Him, we are powerless. With Him, we are unstoppable. He is the source of our resurrection, the seal of our salvation, and the strength for our journey. So live in Him. Walk in Him. Trust in Him. And rest assured that He is living in you.
Prayer for the Holy Spirit's Presence
Lord, I thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Thank You for living in me, guiding me, and empowering me. Help me to live in the Spirit and to walk in the Spirit every day. Let me not quench or grieve the Spirit but yield to His leading. I rest in the assurance that the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead lives in me and will one day raise me to eternal life. Fill me afresh today. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
