WE HAVE GOT TO 'CATCH IT'!

1. We Have Got To 'Catch It'!

a) The phrase 'catch it' is essential for spiritual understanding, work of ministry and even in the area of spiritual gifts.

b) Did Elisha 'catch it' when he asked for double portion of prophetic power from Elijah after Elijah replied, "You have asked a difficult thing, yet if you see me when I am taken from you, it will be yours --- otherwise, it will not.” (2 Kings 2:10)

c) I believe Elisha did when he had faith to believe that Elijah would be taken away from him.

d) What does 'catch it' mean? It means to hear and / or understand something that has been said. In the spiritual realm, the person is able to hear and understand what the Spirit is saying at a given place and time.

e) We know that spiritual gifts are determined by the Spirit and he distributes to each one as he sees fit (1 Corinthians 12:11).

f) If a person doesn't 'catch it', he misses the gifts. He may know the spiritual gifts but may not have the ability to demonstrate it if he doesn't 'catch it' in faith to exercise it.

g) We have got to 'catch it'! Here are some Bible verses:

i) Psalm 91:1

[1] He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

ii) 2 Peter 1:20-21

[20] Knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation. [21] For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

iii) Acts 2:38

[38] And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

iv) James 5:13

[13] Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise.

v) James 2:24

[24] You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.

vi) James 2:18

[18] But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.
