PSALM 9:9-10

“The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.” - Psalm 9:9-10

Whenever the believers feel overwhelmed or helpless, they are assured that God is their refuge and stronghold, offering them safety, protection,  guidance and comfort in times of trouble.

John Chavis was a free Black educator and Presbyterian minister in the American South during the early 19th century. He faced significant oppression due to racial discrimination during his lifetime. His greatest triumph over oppression was his trust in God and his relentless pursuit of knowledge and education, despite the systemic barriers he faced. He left a lasting impact on the fight for equal rights and access to education, paving the way for future advancements in civil rights.

Psalm 9:9-10 reminds us of God's unfailing love and protection. It invites us to take refuge in Him during times of trouble and to place our complete trust in His enduring faithfulness. Regardless of our circumstances, we can find comfort and hope knowing that God is always there for us, providing strength and support.
