SDM Personalised Ministry: Self-Assessment Discovery Guide

SDM Personalised Ministry: Self-Assessment Discovery Guide

“Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves.”

2 Corinthians 13:5

SECTION 1: HEART & CALLING AWARENESS

(Why You Are Stirred)

Answer honestly and prayerfully.

  • What burden or concern repeatedly returns to your heart, even when you try to ignore it?
  • When you see needs in the Body of Christ, which ones affect you most deeply?
  • What do people consistently come to you for—prayer, counsel, teaching, encouragement, or help?
  • If recognition were removed, what would you still feel compelled to do for the Lord?
  • In prayer, what themes does the Holy Spirit often highlight to you?

Reflection:

Burden reveals calling; passion reveals assignment.

SECTION 2: GRACE & GIFT INDICATORS

(How God Works Through You)

  • In which activities do you sense spiritual ease and flow rather than strain?
  • Where have you seen lasting fruit, not just effort?
  • What spiritual gifts have others affirmed in you over time?
  • When serving, what drains you—and what energises you?
  • Are there moments where you sense divine help beyond your natural ability?

Reflection:

Grace does not remove effort, but it multiplies fruit.

SECTION 3: CHARACTER & READINESS CHECK

(Who You Are Becoming)

  • How do you respond to correction and spiritual authority?
  • Are you faithful in unseen and uncelebrated responsibilities?
  • Do you value process, or do you rush toward visibility?
  • Are your private disciplines aligned with your public desires?
  • Can others trust you with responsibility without supervision?

Reflection:

Calling opens doors; character keeps them open.

SECTION 4: ALIGNMENT & SUBMISSION

(Where You Are Positioned)

  • Are you currently submitted to spiritual leadership and accountability?
  • Do you receive guidance with humility, even when it stretches you?
  • Are you aligned with the vision and spiritual order of SDM?
  • Do you honour spiritual processes, or resist structure?
  • Are you willing to wait for commissioning rather than self-appoint?

Reflection:

Alignment precedes authority; submission precedes release.

SECTION 5: SEASON & DIRECTION

(What God Is Doing Now)

  • Do you sense you are in a season of learning, serving, or leading?
  • What doors has God clearly opened—and which remain closed?
  • Are you trying to move ahead of God, or avoiding obedience?
  • What confirmations have you received through Scripture and counsel?
  • What is the next faithful step—not the final destination?

Reflection:

God reveals direction progressively, not prematurely.

SECTION 6: MINISTRY DISCERNMENT SUMMARY

(For Prayer & Pastoral Discussion)

Complete this section slowly.
  • The ministry area(s) I sense the Lord drawing me toward:
  • The primary burden God has placed in my heart:
  • The areas where grace and fruit are evident:
  • The areas where I need further growth and equipping:

My current season appears to be:

☐ Preparation

☐ Alignment

☐ Equipping

☐ Releasing (Subject to leadership confirmation)

SECTION 7: PASTORAL SUBMISSION STATEMENT

(Optional but encouraged in SDM)

“I submit my perceived calling and ministry direction to spiritual leadership for prayer, discernment, and alignment, trusting the Lord’s timing and process.”

PASTORAL REMINDER

This guide is not a declaration of position.

It is a conversation with God, followed by confirmation through spiritual leadership.

In SDM:

Discovery leads to alignment

Alignment leads to equipping

Equipping leads to commissioning

And all things are done decently and in order.
