0. Introduction
a) Hebrew law served as the personal and national guide for living under God's authority. It directed the moral, spiritual, and social life. Its purpose was to produce better understanding of God and commitment to him.
1. Word: "TORAH"
i) Meaning
@1. Direction, guidance, instruction.
ii) Examples
@1. 12 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain and be there; and I will give you tablets of stone, and the law and commandments which I have written, that you may teach them.” (Exodus 24:12 NKJV)
@2. 3 I have commanded My sanctified ones; I have also called My mighty ones for My anger—
Those who rejoice in My exaltation.” (Isaiah 13:3 NKJV)
iii) Significance
@1. Need for law in general; a command from a higher person to a lower.
2. Word: "MITSVAH"
i) Meaning
@1. Commandment, command.
ii) Examples
@1. 5 because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws.” (Genesis 26:5 NKJV)
@2. 26 and said, “If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.” (Exodus 15:26 NKJV)
@3. 2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3 “You shall have no other gods before Me. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

3. Word: "MISHPAT"
i) Meaning
@1. Judgment, ordinance.
ii) Examples
@1. 19 For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the Lord, to do righteousness and justice, that the Lord may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him.” (Genesis 18:19 NKJV)
@2. 18 “You shall appoint judges and officers in all your gates, which the Lord your God gives you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with just judgment. (Deuteronomy 16:18 NKJV)
@3. 9 And you shall come to the priests, the Levites, and to the judge there in those days, and inquire of them; they shall pronounce upon you the sentence of judgment. (Deuteronomy 17:9 NKJV)
iii) Significance
@1. This refers to the civil, social, and sanitation laws.
4. Word: "EDUTH"
i) Meaning
@1. Admonition, testimony.
ii) Examples
@1. 22 And there I will meet with you, and I will speak with you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are on the ark of the Testimony, about everything which I will give you in commandment to the children of Israel. (Exodus 25:22 NKJV)
iii) Significance
@1. Refers to God's law as he deals with his people.
