EDENIC COVENANT

0. Introduction
a) A covenant is a legally binding obligation (promise). Throughout history God has made covenants with his people - he would keep his side if they would keep theirs.
b) Here is one of the 7 covenants found in the Bible.
1. Name: "Edenic Covenant"
a) Reference text: Genesis 3:15
i) 15 "And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” (Genesis 3:15 NKJV)
2. God's promise
a) Satan and mankind will be enemies.
3. Sign
a) Pain of childbirth.
4. What is the text all about?
a) Satan is our enemy. He will do anything he can to get us to follow his evil, deadly path. The phrase "you will strike his heel" refers to Satan's repeated attempts to defeat Christ during his life on earth. A strike on the heel is not deadly, but a crushing blow to the head is. Already God was revealing his plan to defeat Satan and offer salvation to the world through his Son, Jesus Christ.
