2. He would be reviled and mocked by a crowd
a) Reference: Psalms 22:7-8 i) 7 All those who see Me ridicule Me; They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, 8 “He trusted in the Lord, let Him rescue Him; Let Him deliver Him, since He delights in Him!” (Psalms 22:7-8 NKJV) b) Fulfillment: Matthew 27:39-43; Luke 23:35 i) 39 And those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads 40 and saying, “You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save Yourself! If He is the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe Him. 43 He trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now if He will have Him; for He said, ‘I am the Son of God.’” (Matthew 27:39-43 NKJV) ii) 35 And the people stood looking on. 3. He would bear the sins of those killing him a) Reference: Isaiah 53:12 i) 12 Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors. (Isaiah 53:12 NKJV) b) Fulfillment: Luke 23:33-34 i) 33 And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the other on the left. 34 Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” And they divided His garments and cast lots.
