A DAY OF SALVATION: SAVED FROM DESTRUCTION

1. A Day Of Salvation
a) A main thread running through the book of Isaiah is the message of salvation. He tells us that although so many people set their hearts against God, there are some who are righteous, who will be saved from the awful destruction that God brings upon the wicked.
2. Saved From Destruction
Isaiah 66:24
24 “Then they will go forth and look
On the corpses of the men
Who have transgressed against Me.
For their worm will not die
And their fire will not be quenched;
And they will be an abhorrence to all mankind.”
a) Isaiah speaks of the destruction of Israel, even of Jerusalem, and of many other nations. However he sees these as omens of a terrible final destruction at the end of the world. He even chooses to end his book on this very note in Isaiah 66:24.
b) Jesus himself quoted these words from Isaiah when he was warning us of hell (Mark 9:48).
