IV. Jesus' burial, resurrection, ascension

1. His body would not decay

a) Reference: Psalms 16:9

i) 9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope. (Psalms 16:9 NKJV)

b) Fulfillment: Acts 2:24, 27, 31

i) 24 whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it. (Acts 2:24 NKJV)

ii) 27 For You will not leave my soul in Hades, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. (Acts 2:27 NKJV)

iii) 31 he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption. (Acts 2:31 NKJV)

2. Resurrected from the dead

a) Psalm 16:10-11; Psalms 49:15

i) 15 But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave, For He shall receive me. Selah (Psalms 49:15 NKJV)

b) Fulfillment: Mark 16:5-6

i) 5 And entering the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a long white robe sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed. 6 But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him. (Mark 16:5-6 (NKJV)
