SIXTEEN (16) IN THE BIBLE
(Message by Tanny Keng)
1. Number SIXTEEN in the Bible
a) Uzziah was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem. (2 Chronicles 26:3)
b) Most teenagers look forward to their sixteenth birthday for that special birthday party and other privileges such as drinking, getting a job and staying out later at night.
c) Uzziah became king at sixteen and reigned fifty-two years; longer than any previous king of Israel. While sixteen was young to become a king, there were two other kings younger than sixteen year old Uzziah.
d) Would your child be able to run an entire nation at seven, eight or sixteen?
e) Uzziah was a powerful king, but he let pride get in his way. When confronted by the other kings, he responded with anger instead of repentance. God judged him by striking him with leprosy. Uzziah was forced to live out the rest of his life separated from society.
f) Remember pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. (Proverbs 16:18).
The End ...
