THE 9 SPIRITUAL GIFTS

The 9 spiritual gifts as listed in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10, along with Bible verses and explanations for each:

Wisdom: "To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom…" (1 Corinthians 12:8)

Wisdom is the ability to see things from a Godly perspective and to apply spiritual truths to everyday life. This gift enables individuals to provide guidance, insight, and direction to others.

Knowledge: "…to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit…" (1 Corinthians 12:8)

Knowledge is the ability to have deep understanding and insight into God's truth, and to apply it in practical ways. This gift enables individuals to teach, counsel, and share the gospel with others.

Faith: "to another faith by the same Spirit…" (1 Corinthians 12:9)

Faith is the ability to trust in God's power and provision, even in difficult circumstances. This gift enables individuals to encourage and inspire others to trust in God and to live by faith.

Healing: "to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit" (1 Corinthians 12:9)

Healing is the ability to restore physical, emotional, or spiritual wholeness through prayer and faith in God. This gift enables individuals to minister to those who are sick or hurting.

Miracles: "to another miraculous powers…" (1 Corinthians 12:10)

Miracles are supernatural acts of God that display his power and glory. This gift enables individuals to perform miracles through faith and prayer, such as healing the sick, casting out demons, or raising the dead.

Prophecy: "to another prophecy…" (1 Corinthians 12:10)

Prophecy is the ability to speak God's truth and to apply it to specific situations or people. This gift enables individuals to provide guidance, warning, or encouragement to others, and to build up the Church.

Discernment: "to another the ability to discern spirits…" (1 Corinthians 12:10)

Discernment is the ability to distinguish between truth and falsehood, and to recognize the presence of evil or false teachings. This gift enables individuals to protect the Church from deception and to provide wise counsel and guidance.

Speaking in tongues: "to another speaking in different kinds of tongues…" (1 Corinthians 12:10)

Speaking in tongues is the ability to speak in languages that are not understood by the speaker or the hearer, but which are used for prayer and worship. This gift enables individuals to communicate with God in a deep and meaningful way, and to express their love and devotion to him.

Interpretation of tongues: "to another the interpretation of tongues" (1 Corinthians 12:10)

Interpretation of tongues is the ability to understand and interpret the message that is being communicated through the gift of tongues. This gift enables individuals to share the meaning of the message with others, and to build up the Church through edification and encouragement.
