WAYS GOD SPEAKS
1. Introduction
a) On Sunday 13/01/2013 @6.00am, the Lord showed me a number 45. The equation then came to me: 4+ 5 = 9. One hour and forty-five minutes later @7.45am, he gave me another number 18. The equation for 18: 1 + 8 = 9.
b) 13/01/13 was the date the Lord showed me the numbers. The equation for the date: 1 + 3 + 0 + 1 + 1 + 3 = 9.
c) On Tuesday 15/01/2013 @7.35pm, the Lord showed me a number 10 and 7 minutes @7.42pm later another number 26. The equation for these 2 numbers: 1 + 0 + 2+ 6 = 9.
d) Number 9 seems to bear some spiritual significance. What is the Lord saying in this context? That He can speak to us in 9 different ways.
2. What are the 9 different ways the Lord can speak to us?
a) We shall consider 9 different ways:
1) Through the Word of God
a) This is the most clear and effective way of God’s communication with His people. If you want to know how things work perfectly, you need to read the manual. The Bible is God’s manual for His people.
i) 16All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. (II Timothy 3:16, 17 NKJV)
ii) 11Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You. (Psalms 119:11 NKJV)
iii) 105Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. (Psalms 119:105 NKJV)
2) Through the inner still, small voice of Holy Spirit
a) 12Then the Spirit told me (Peter) to go with them, doubting nothing. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered the man’s house. (Acts 11:12 NKJV)
b) 2As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” (Acts 13:2 NKJV)
c) 6Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia. 7After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them. (Acts 16:6, 7 NKJV)
d) 11Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord .” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord , but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; 12and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice. (I Kings 19:11, 12 NKJV)
e) 19For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem; You shall weep no more. He will be very gracious to you at the sound of your cry; When He hears it, He will answer you. 20And though the Lord gives you The bread of adversity and the water of affliction, Yet your teachers will not be moved into a corner anymore, But your eyes shall see your teachers. 21Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left. (Isaiah 30:19-21 NKJV)
3) Through the advice and counsel of the men and women of God
a) 15The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, But he who heeds counsel is wise. (Proverbs 12:15 NKJV)
4) Through the Audible Voice of God
a) 3As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. 4Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” 5And he said, “Who are You, Lord?” Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads.” (Acts 9:3-5 NKJV)
5) Through Dreams
a) There are many instances in the Bible, where God clearly communicates through dreams.
i) 20But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus , for He will save His people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:20, 21 NKJV)
6) Through Visions
a) 9The next day, as they went on their journey and drew near the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour. 10Then he became very hungry and wanted to eat; but while they made ready, he fell into a trance 11and saw heaven opened and an object like a great sheet bound at the four corners, descending to him and let down to the earth. 12In it were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air. 13And a voice came to him, “Rise, Peter; kill and eat.” 14But Peter said, “Not so, Lord! For I have never eaten anything common or unclean.” 15And a voice spoke to him again the second time, “What God has cleansed you must not call common.” 16This was done three times. And the object was taken up into heaven again. 17Now while Peter wondered within himself what this vision which he had seen meant, behold, the men who had been sent from Cornelius had made inquiry for Simon’s house, and stood before the gate. 18And they called and asked whether Simon, whose surname was Peter, was lodging there. (Acts 10:9-18 NKJV)
7) Through Angels
a) 26Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” 29But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. 30Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus . 32He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. 33And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” 34Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” 35And the angel answered and said to her, “ The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. 36Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. 37For with God nothing will be impossible.” 38Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her. (Luke 1:26-38 NKJV)
8) Through circumstances
a) However there is a danger of opening doors to Satan by letting mere circumstances dictate our lives. . So be wise and discerning with regards to your circumstances and expect God to speak to you through them.
9) By Inner Conviction and Peace
a) It is similar to the inner still, small voice of Holy Spirit. God can give you deep conviction and inner peace about something.
3. Prayer focus
a) Pray that we are willing to hear the Lord speaking to us in one of the 9 different ways.
b) Pray that not only we want to know what the Lord is speaking but also to act upon it.
