TRANSFER OF WEALTH

1. Introduction

a) As God's chosen people, we have this privilege to receive the transfer of wealth to our hands according to what God has said in his word.

2. We know (facts):

FACT 1: God gives us the ability to produce wealth.

i) 18But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today. (Deuteronomy 8:18 NIV)

FACT 2: God loves to give or present wealth.

i) 17I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me. 18With me are riches and honor, enduring (lasting / permanent) wealth and prosperity (good fortune or well off). 19My fruit is better than fine gold; what I yield surpasses choice silver. 20I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice, 21bestowing (giving / presenting) a rich inheritance on those who love me and making their treasuries full. (Proverbs 8:17-21 NIV)

FACT 3: God owns the whole world and its resources.

i) 8The silver is mine and the gold is mine,’ declares the Lord Almighty. (Haggai 2:8 NIV)

ii) 10for every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. (Psalm 50:10 NIV)

FACT 4: God wants to transact the transfer of wealth at the appointed time.

i) 26To the person who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind. (Ecclesiastes 2:26 NIV)

ii) 6For there is a proper time and procedure for every matter, though a person may be weighed down by misery. (Ecclesiastes 8:6 NIV)

3. The question now is 'when'.

a) In this respect, we need to honestly answer a very essential and vital question:

i) Do we honestly believe that we are matured enough (or ready) for God to entrust us with His wealth in our hands?

b) Let’s look at the following passages of Scripture:

i) 26So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, 27for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. (Galatians 3:26-29 NIV)

ii) The covenanted blessings to Abraham and his seed mainly cover health and wealth (material prosperity).  God is the source of blessing in the Old Testament and God himself endues with power in 7 areas of blessings:

#1) For an abundant life.

#2) For an effective life.

#3) For the salvation of the soul.

#4) For success.

#5) For prosperity.

#6) For fecundity (fruitful in childbearing).

#7) For longevity.

iii) 1What I am saying is that as long as an heir is underage, he is no different from a slave, although he owns the whole estate. 2The heir is subject to guardians and trustees until the time set by his father. (Galatians 4:1, 2 NIV)

iv) When an heir is a child, he is in no position to run his father’s business even though he owns the whole estate. The child is subject to guardians and trustees until he has grown up to be a son, at the appointed time set by his father, so that he is matured enough (or ready) to handle all his father’s estate responsibly.

v) In the same way, God will ensure we are matured enough (or ready) before He entrusted us with His wealth.

4. What does a son do?

a) He wants to please his father.

b) He wants to do his father’s will.

c) He wants to get instructions from his father so that he may do it the way his father wants it.

d) He is always grateful to his father for giving him the opportunities / challenges.

e) He always directs credit due to the source.

i) There is a great future ahead of us according to God’s plan. We can expect our heavenly Father to give us good gifts.

@1. 11For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord , “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)

@2. 3I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord , the God of Israel, who summons you by name. (Isaiah 45:3 NIV)

5. Prayer focus

a) Pray that we will not remain a child (slave) but a son who delights his father’s heart.

b) Pray for the Lord to transfer land, buildings, property, finances and abundance of ideas to us, as God’s people we love to please him.

c) Enlighten, ask & act.

i) The word of God enlightens us.

ii) We ask for what God has promised us.

iii) God will act upon what He has promised to us.

d) Wearing white clothes and having oil on the head are signs of happiness and celebration.

i) 8Always be clothed in white, and always anoint your head with oil. (Ecclesiastes 9:8 NIV)
