BIBLE ANIMALS (5)
(Message by Tanny Keng)
1. Bible Animals
a) You'll find lions, leopards, and bears (no tigers), along with nearly 100 other animals, insects, and creatures in the pages of the Bible. We think it's safe to assume that God is an animal lover. Although the names of Bible animals vary from one translation to another and sometimes these creatures are difficult to identify, God's Word showcases numerous members of the animal kingdom. The names on this list are based in the New Living Translation (NLT) with Scripture references provided for each Bible animal.
2. Scripture References
i) Heron - Leviticus 11:19.
ii) Hoopoe - Leviticus 11:19.
iii) Horse - 1 Kings 4:26; 2 Kings 2:11; Revelation 6:2-8; 19:14.
iv) Hyena - Isaiah 34:14.
v) Hyrax (Coney or Rock Badger) - Leviticus 11:5.
vi) Kite - Leviticus 11:14.
vii) Lamb - Genesis 4:2; 1 Samuel 17:34.
viii) Leech - Proverbs 30:15.
ix) Leopard - Isaiah 11:6; Jeremiah 13:23; Daniel 7:6; Revelation 13:2.
x) Leviathan - (Could be an earthly creature, crocodile; Some say it's a mythical sea monster of ancient literature; Possible reference to dinosaurs.) Isaiah 27:1; Psalm 74:14; Job 41:1.
