SINFUL NATURE 7: FREEDOM
(Message by Tanny Keng)
1. What is the ‘Sinful Nature’?
a) Why do we sin? What is it that oftentimes urges us to do what we know is wrong? Did humanity inherit a ‘sinful nature’ when Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden? Did God curse humankind by giving them a tendency to sin; a tendency that has been the cause of hurt and heartache for untold multitudes to this day?
2. Freedom from the ‘Sinful Nature’
a) Regardless of whether the ‘sinful nature’ results from something added to us or is something that we have lost, God has provided a way to deal with it. We can be reconciled to Him. God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on a cross, enduring the punishment that we rightfully deserve.
b) When one places his or her trust in the saving work of Jesus Christ, that person receives the indwelling life of the Holy Spirit. Spiritually this is a return to the pre-fall condition of man. The believer is then able to enjoy an intimate walk with Jesus Christ, who forgives us of our sins, frees us from the guilt and punishment those sins deserve, enables us to resist temptation, and empowers us to live the holy lives that He would have us live.
The End ...
