LIFE & DEATH (1)

(Message by Tanny Keng)

1. Life

a) In the Old Testament of the Bible it says “then the LORD God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature” (Genesis 2:7). It also tells us that “… the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it for you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that makes atonement by the life” (Leviticus 17:11).

b) Medical science tells us that when the brain waves stop the human body is dead. However, when a person drowns and stops breathing, what is it that revives them through resuscitation? It is the return of oxygen to the brain … oxygen that is carried to the brain in the blood.

c) In the New Testament we read that without the shedding of blood by our Savior, Jesus, we could not have eternal life. (Matthew 26:28; Hebrews 9:22). Jesus’ blood is our life – the atonement for our soul.

2. Life And Death

Leviticus 24:17,18
“Whoever takes a human life shall surely be put to death. Whoever takes an animal’s life shall make it good, life for life…”

Deuteronomy 30:19 20
“… I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, loving the LORD your God, obeying his voice and holding fast to him, for he is your life and length of days, that you may dwell in the land that the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”

The End ...
