ABRAHAM IN THE NEW TESTAMENT (4)

(Message by Tanny Keng)

0. Introduction

a) Let's look at Abraham in the New Testament.

1. God is Abraham's God; thus Abraham is alive with God.

2. New Testament references

a) Matthew 22:32

i) 32 ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.” (Matthew 22:32 NKJV)

b) Mark 12:26

i) 26 But concerning the dead, that they rise, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the burning bush passage, how God spoke to him, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? (Mark 12:26 NKJV)

c) Luke 20:37

i) 37 But even Moses showed in the burning bush passage that the dead are raised, when he called the Lord ‘the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ (Luke 20:37 NKJV)

d) Acts 7:32

i) 32 saying, ‘I am the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ And Moses trembled and dared not look. (Acts 7:32 NKJV)

3. Explanation

a) As Abraham lives forever, we will live forever, because we, like Abraham, have chosen the life of faith.
