a) The Bible is full of wonderful stories and special truth. What we want to do is to discover the Bible.

b) Psalm 119:11 says, "Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You."

c) Nurture and grow your understanding of the Bible as you read and discover the Bible.

2. The Consecration of a Priest

a) Cleansing.

b) Girding.

c) Consecrating (Setting Apart).

d) Offerings:

i) The Burnt Offering.

ii) The Offering of "Filling."

iii) The Heave Offering.

e) Priest is covered with Oil and Blood!

i) Oil = Sacred, set apart.

ii) Blood = Clean, through another sacrifice.

3. Strange Fire

Leviticus 10:1 King James Version (KJV)

10 And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the Lord, which he commanded them not.

a) Note these were Aaron's own sons! How tragic was the sorrow caused in the hearts of those who remained after they died. "Strange Fire" always leaves pain in the lives of others.

4. The Day of Atonement

a) Note the occasion in Leviticus 16:1:

Leviticus 16:1 King James Version (KJV)

16 And the Lord spake unto Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they offered before the Lord, and died.

b) Two offerings: one for salvation, one for sanctification:. See Leviticus 16:3:

Leviticus 16:3 King James Version (KJV)

Thus shall Aaron come into the holy place: with a young bullock for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering.

c) The "scapegoat" - Leviticus 16:10 (Literally, the goat of removal).

Leviticus 16:10 King James Version (KJV)

10 But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the Lord, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness.

d) Leviticus 16:15 ties to Hebrews 9:25, which tells us something significant about the sacrifice of Christ on the cross.

Leviticus 16:15 King James Version (KJV)

15 Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat.

Hebrews 9:25 King James Version (KJV)

25 Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others.
