SEVEN TRUTHS: THE LAW OF JESUS

1. Seven Truths
a) When we read between the lines of Paul's letter to the Colossians, we see that a heresy was developing in Colosse.
b) The heresy evidently denied or undermined certain truths concerning Jesus Christ. Paul strongly counters the heresy by teaching at least seven truths about Jesus Christ.
c) Here is one of the truths.
2. The Law Of Jesus
a) We note Paul's criticism of rules, regulations, and taboos that were commandments of men and not the law of Jesus Christ (Colossians 2:20-23). It may be that "self made religion" was beginning to supplant the pure Christian religion.
Colossians 2:20-23
20 If you have died with Christ to the elementary principles of the world, why, as if you were living in the world, do you submit yourself to decrees, such as, 21 “Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch!” 22 (which all refer to things destined to perish with use) — in accordance with the commandments and teachings of men? 23 These are matters which have, to be sure, the appearance of wisdom in self-made religion and self-abasement and severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against fleshly indulgence.
