SEEKERS: YOU CAN DO NOTHING TO SAVE YOURSELF
(Message by Tanny Keng)
a) Are you searching for answers that you cannot find within yourself? Well, you are heading in the right direction! Jesus Christ intentionally left heaven to live among us and not only teach us, but also to experience everything that we do.
b) You may have said, “but Jesus doesn’t understand my situation” or “how can Jesus understand my pain?”
c) Well, He understands more than you’ll ever know.
i) He understood fear. “Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Remove this cup (reference to His approaching crucifixion/wrath of God upon Him) from me.” (Mark 14:36)
ii) He understood failures from friends. While He prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, He only asked for His friends to stay awake and keep watch for Him. Three times Jesus approached them and woke them up. (Mark 14:32-42)
iii) Jesus experienced rejection by one of His dearest friends, Peter. (Mark 14:66-72)
iv) Jesus experienced hatred from people: “if the world hates you, know that it has hated Me before it hated you.” (John 15:18) Jesus experienced temptation at its highest after He fasted in the wilderness for 40 days and nights. (Matthew 4:1-11)
v) Jesus experienced sadness: “Jesus wept.” (John 11:35)
d) You see, Jesus understands your situation because He experienced all of the things that you do. He knew fear, anxiety, rejection, sadness, the feelings of temptation and disappointment. What a better Savior to have then one who really understands you!

2. You Can Do Nothing To Save Yourself
a) We have no doubt that you are reading this for a reason. There is only one God and He has drawn you to show you truth and a way to life everlasting. Choose God and choose life!
1 Timothy 2:5
“For there is one God, and One mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
1 Corinthians 3:11
“For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”
b) You can do nothing to save yourself. You are saved because of Jesus’ mercy on you as He died for your sins on the cross. When you accept Jesus, you will attain a regenerate heart, meaning your heart will change from following fleshly desires to following spiritual desires, the desires of God for you. Also, you will receive the Holy Spirit upon you and He will be your voice of reason that spurs you on towards righteousness.
Romans 5:8
“But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Even right now, if you have still not accepted Christ, God has extended you love beyond measure by sending Jesus in advance to take your sin upon Himself on the cross. This is love in the highest degree! That is how much God loves you! You and I didn’t deserve this amazing, gracious gift and yet God gave us it free of charge, no questions asked!
Titus 3:5
“He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit.”
c) This is the only way to life everlasting in heaven. Put your faith in Jesus today and you will be saved!
Acts 16:31
“And they said, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.’”
The End ...
