A DAY OF SALVATION: HOW WILL GOD SAVE?

(Message by Tanny Keng)

1. A Day Of Salvation

a) A main thread running through the book of Isaiah is the message of salvation. He tells us that although so many people set their hearts against God, there are some who are righteous, who will be saved from the awful destruction that God brings upon the wicked.

2. How Will God Save?

Isaiah 59:20
20 “A Redeemer will come to Zion,
And to those who turn from transgression in Jacob,” declares the Lord.

a) A Redeemer... Isaiah promises that a Redeemer will come. God looked upon mankind and saw that there was no just man to intercede, so God himself became the Savior of mankind. "His own arm brought salvation to him, and His righteousness upheld him" (Isaiah 59:15-16).

b) Isaiah describes the splendid armor of the divine Savior (Isaiah 59:17-19) and this reminds us of the "armor of God" which Paul commended to the Ephesians (Ephesians 6:10-18). Paul also refers to another passage in Isaiah about the Redeemer’s armor (Isaiah 11:4-5).

Isaiah 52:7
7 How lovely on the mountains
Are the feet of him who brings good news,
Who announces peace
And brings good news of happiness,
Who announces salvation,
And says to Zion, “Your God reigns!”

a) The Gospel... God’s method of telling the world about the Redeemer is to send out preachers to spread the good news (the gospel) everywhere.

The End ...
