PAUL'S METHOD OF EVANGELISM: POSITIVE ATTITUDE TOWARD PROBLEMS

1. Paul's Method Of Evangelism
a) The ministry of the gospel message is sometimes called "evangelism" from the Greek ευαγγελλιον (euangellion), which means "evangel" or "gospel" or simply "good news".
Colossians 4:3-6
3 praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned; 4 that I may make it clear in the way I ought to speak.
5 Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. 6 Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.
b) Here Paul mentions the most important elements of his method, that is to say the way he went about his ministry of fulfilling the mission to preach the message of Christ.
2. Positive Attitude Toward Problems
Colossians 4:3
3 praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned.
a) Paul has "been imprisoned" because of his ministry. Yet Paul is trying hard not to let this discourage him from continuing. Because of his belief in prayer, and his expectation of God's providence, Paul's problem does not seem insurmountable. He is able to write, so he writes to the churches to teach and exhort them. He maintains contact with his fellow ministers and works through them. He expects, even though imprisoned, to "speak forth the mystery of Christ". It is easy to become frustrated in the ministry of the word, so we should encourage optimism and confidence in those who try hard to teach and the word.
